At Para Space, our annual Summit is more than a professional development day. It’s a reflection of our commitment to education, collaboration, and recognizing the success of our team. What started out as small group educational sessions in the late ’90s has grown into a key event. It brings our team together to learn, collaborate, and celebrate each other. Our 2025 Summit marked the second year that we gathered offsite. The Summit gave us a chance to reflect on our progress, look ahead to the future, and inspire ourselves!
Strengthening Our Roots
Each year, the Summit provides an opportunity to gather and recognize the educational achievements, tenure milestones, and the growth we’ve had at Para Space. Our management team led insightful presentations and discussions. Topics included relationship building, promoting safe work and accountability, understanding client perspectives, and snow and ice management.
Learning from Industry Leaders
Education is at the heart of everything we do, and this year’s guest speakers, Gail Wallin and Sherhara Burrel, shared valuable knowledge with our team.
Sherhara Burrel is a corporate training expert who has worked with brands like Under Armour and Toyota. She led an inspiring session on Feedback in Action. She challenged us to embrace courageous communication, framing feedback as a tool for trust, empowerment, and stronger relationships. Not only this, but Sherhara shared practical ways to deliver meaningful feedback.
Gail Wallin, from the Invasive Species Council of BC, shared her expertise on the impact of invasive species in our industry. She introduced us to the PlantWise program and Grow Me Instead campaign, reinforcing the role Para Space Landscaping and other organizations play as stewards of healthy landscapes and ecosystems.
Growing as a Team
The Summit has always been about more than learning. It’s also about coming together as a team. This year, we introduced new team-building challenges, putting our coordination, patience, and teamwork to the test. The games included a landscape-themed game of Pictionary and even a creatively designed challenge where we had to work together to maneuver a ball using only buckets and ropes.
A Summit to Remember
As we wrapped up another successful Summit, it’s remarkable how much we’ve grown since this tradition first began. What started as a simple training day has become a defining part of our company culture. It’s a day for learning, sharing ideas, and strengthening the connections that make our team special.
Our commitment to professional development continues as we evolve, tackle new challenges, and support our team. We can’t wait to celebrate, reflect, and learn more at the next Para Space Summit!
