The Landscape Industry Certified Technician designation was designed by industry to give individuals in the horticultural industry the means of providing a minimum standard of expertise in the horticultural field. Landscape Industry Certification is available in seven specializations within the horticulture industry: Softscape Installation; Hardscape Installation; Turf Maintenance; Ornamental Maintenance; Retail Garden Centre; Irrigation; and Interior Landscaping.

The Landscape Industry Certified Technician test is composed of both written and practical evaluations. Softscape Installation candidates are tested at the following practical stations: Plant Identification; Basic Program Controller; Lateral Repair & Head Adjustment; Tree Planting and Staking; Sod Installation; Plant Layout; and Rototiller.

The CNLA’s (Canadian Nursery and Landscape Association) certification program promotes the growth and credibility of the interior and exterior landscape industries. It provides professional recognition to individuals engaged in the horticulture business; look for the Landscape Industry Certified logo when you want to ensure quality work on your next horticulture purchase.

Candidates who are successful in completing the Landscape Industry Certified program have demonstrated through their studies, experience and dedication that they are serious about providing a high level of horticultural products and services.

CNLA represents more than 3,400 professional interior and exterior landscape maintenance, installation, design/build contractors, retailers, growers, and suppliers on a national basis.
