Give. Love. Bark. A Volunteer Project

DATE

Our annual Day of Service was all for the dogs this year! It was paws down the most heartwarming, furry fun for all our staff, family, and friends who gave up their Sunday to build a very special outdoor space for shelter dogs.

We brought our horticulture expertise to the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) to redesign a fenced-in area for the shelter dogs to run off-leash. This area is intended to enrich the daily lives of the dogs in their care, but it is also going to be used as a place for adopting families to meet and greet the dogs in a safe environment.

The project included:

  • Bark mulch pathway leading from their main building to the fenced area
  • Pergola with bench for staff and volunteers to get shelter from the sun and rain
  • Privacy screen hedging along fence line to block out Hwy 1 (this area is right on the 264th exit and the traffic that drives by is very loud and scary for the dogs)
  • And 3 doggy playground items for them to run around and play on

We’d like to thank the following businesses who donated materials to make this project happen:
