Green roofs are becoming increasingly popular in the battle against climate change. Not only do they serve a practical purpose (improving air quality, reducing the heat island effect, filtering water and reducing utility costs), they also provide habitat for birds and are aesthetically pleasing when well maintained. While they are designed to be lower maintenance than a traditional green space, the frequency of maintenance depends on its initial design, current condition and owner expectations.
