Metro Vancouver, as well as many areas of BC, are experiencing one of the driest summers on record. This has led Metro Vancouver to enact Stage 3 water restrictions for only the second time in Vancouver history. For more information click here.
It’s important for us all to do our part to conserve this precious resource. Unfortunately, our landscapes are suffering with the lack of water, and the occasional rains we have had do little to improve the situation. Under stage 3, hand watering with a spring-loaded shutoff and drip irrigation is still allowed for planted beds and trees. No drinking water may be used on turf. Turf will generally weather dry conditions better than shrubs and trees, but it does lose it’s resistance to foot traffic and some turf will not survive.
Gator Bags are a relatively new product that acts as a temporary “drip” system for vulnerable trees. Para Space offers hand watering services as well as the installation of Gator Bags.
